The International Relations Council Mt. Pleasant Area is an organization of community volunteers dedicated to promoting cultural activities that enhance the greater Mt. Pleasant area as a positive environment for visitors and residents from other countries. The IRC is the primary group responsible for supporting and facilitating the student and adult cultural exchanges with our sister city of Okaya, Japan. We are currently commemorating over 50 years of this special relationship with Okaya.

The Board of Directors often consists of representatives from the City of Mt. Pleasant, Central Michigan University, General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, and members of the community, all working together to foster international relationships in the Mt. Pleasant area.
